Robomaid
What is the one job in my house that I hate doing and gets put off the most? VACUUMING! Seriously I would rather do anything than vacuum. It never seems like a good time to vacuum and it’s never convenient. If my son is sleeping I am generally cleaning, but vacuuming is a no, no. If he is awake I would rather spend time with him than clean and also a noisy vacuum means he can sneak off and get into trouble. So I have been waiting for those magic cleaning fairies to clean when I go out and vacuum my poor neglected floors!
Enter Robomaid! When this red little creature showed up on my door step I knew all of my prayers had been answered.
Robomaid is a cordless, automatic vacuum that requires you to do nothing except push a button and empty her when she gets full. She really is that simple!
When Robomaid arrived we charged her as per the directions and we kept walking past asking ourselves “Is it time yet?” Very very impatient household we live in!
I am not sure what I expected when I first tried Robomaid, I was really just happy to have the floors vacuumed so the result wasn’t overly important because anything was an improvement!
I decided to start in the worst room - the living room. It is completely carpeted and has the highest traffic in the entire house. It is where our 2 year old eats his snacks, plays and generally makes a mess. So I cleared the floor of toys and put the tiny kid chairs on top of the kid table, pushed play and let Robomaid go!
I let her go until her battery ran out which was well over an hour. I watched her for about 10 minutes and she got right to the edges of the furniture, softly bumping the edges when she got close. I walked away and let her do her job. When I walked back in I must admit I was shocked, not only did she vacuum she actually did a fabulous job!! The floors looked clean and really well vacuumed.
Overall I was really impressed with Robomaid. She is no louder than the average vacuum cleaner, I actually think she is a little quieter. I am easily annoyed by noise but I find it is fine to turn on when I am home and pottering around the house.
What did I love about Robomaid?
I love that it is automatic! The best part about her is that I don’t have to do it. I push play and off she goes!
I also love that she finds her way back to her docking station to charge and if I am out I have it set so once she is charged she heads straight back out and keeps vacuuming!
I love how pretty she is! Ok this does not affect function, but I am very much into good looking home appliances and she is so pretty! She is shiny red and matches my kitchen aid perfectly .... very important!
I love how well she vacuums. I thought I would need to do a weekly or fortnightly vacuum with my normal vacuum and use the Robomaid to maintain it but I actually don’t. She does such a good job that I just turn her on every time I leave the house and the only time I pull my normal vacuum out is the get into the corners and super hard to reach places.
We have both carpets and tiled floors and she moves effortlessly from one area to the other.
What I don’t like about Robomaid?
Ok not everything is “floorless” ... lol sorry lame joke. Robomaid is no exception, while she is amazing and close to perfect there are a few things I would love to see if they release a new model.
Longer battery life. While the battery life is really good I wish it was around 30 minutes longer. It would mean the difference between vacuuming 80% of my living areas and 100%. I just need an extra 30 minutes of battery power for her to be able to vacuum all my living space.
The dirt tray is a little tricky to get out. Not impossible but I wish it was a little easier, it takes a little fiddling and pulling to get it out.
I wish she had more of a direct route to find her docking station. She travels around the walls until she gets close to the docking station and then she syncs with it at about 1/2 a metre away and goes directly to the dock. I wish the syncing happened from a much further distance. A couple of times I have come home and her battery has run out before she has reached the dock. It only happens if she ends up down the back of our house and then it takes too long for her to find her dock.
But that’s it! Overall I LOVE Robomaid! You may have noticed I call Robomaid “her”, we have named our Robomaid Ruby she is now a very valued member of our family and I actually tell her to have a great day and to do a good job when I leave the house. When I get home I always say thank you! LOL A little crazy I guess but this is how much I love her! You just wait until you get yours, you will be doing the same!
Thank you Robomaid for giving me back my sanity and giving me clean floors!
