Kim Kardashian …. Breastfeeding twitter rant!

by Jen...

So I am sure everyone has heard the latest anti-breastfeeding celeb rant from Kim Kardashian.

A couple of weeks ago Kim Kardashian tweeted …. “EWW Im at lunch, the woman at the table next 2 me is breast feeding her baby w no coverup then puts baby on the table and changes her diaper.” Since posting the tweet she has had so much backlash and has been labeled anti-breastfeeding etc.

Now here is my opinion and it is my opinion only. I see where she is coming from, when I breastfed I made sure I covered up. I never smothered my child but I made sure most of my breast was covered so I felt comfortable and so did those around me. I always feel very uncomfortable when a women pulls out her breast to feed her baby with out covering or trying to be a little discreet. I just don’t think it is necessary at all. I don’t think women should have to hide to feed their baby or to go to a smelly restroom but I do believe they need to respect people around them and also respect themselves by covering up a little.

As for changing a nappy at the table, I am sorry but this is terrible and very unhygienic! I would never ever think to change a nappy at a table under any circumstance and if there was no change table I would ask the manager for a suitable place.

I would love to here your thoughts!

How do you feel about breastfeeding in public or how do you feel about seeing women breastfeed in public? Where do you stand on the nappy changing at the table?

I never covered up, the more I tried the more i ended up flashing! But that is not to say I wasn’t descreet. Babys head was generally in place before I pulled my shirt up or down and his head would cover most of what was showing. Sometimes I would use my hand to cover the top of my breast if I had pulled my top down.

Perhaps Kim needed to be more specific, if the only problem is that the woman didn’t use a cover yet she still managed to feed descretly then I don’t see the issue. If however the woman pulled her breast out and let it all hang out for the world to see without baby attached then yes perhaps that might offend.

As for the nappy change on the table, that is wrong. I’ve been know to chnage a wet nappy in the pram or on the seat next to me descretly but not
on a table. And I certainly wouldn’t chnage a dirty nappy at The table.
